Finally, my husband and I are HOH (Head of Household - aka Big Brother) and the boys have flown the coop. Don't get me wrong, I love my boys but . . . I love them better from afar! It is really interesting to watch them start to learn lessons on their own turf. So my husband and I thought, "Quick, Hurry! Lets fill their room with OUR stuff!" (Note - Author understands she should say "her stuff". Author notes that she has acquired a lot of stuff!) You see - when I would want to scrap - I had to go through boxes and bags of things semi-organized on shelves crammed in a closet to find the articles and tools I needed. Then I would drag them out to the dining room table and proceed to scrap. I could only scrap for a certain amount of days, because the table was generally needed for it's original purpose in a couple of days, so you would pick everything back up and cram it back in the closet.
So ... Who wants to see Our New Studio! My sweet husband has re-painted the room, we pulled up the carpet and put down tile flooring, and found really functional furniture. I AM SO EXCITED. My goal was to get everything moved into the room and organized by this week. I barely made it. I don't have any cutesy stuff up yet, but it is much more efficient for my use. My husband is an artist himself. He likes to draw to-scale models of ships. He is also archivist of a sort, he loves to restore photos, and also make totally new creations from photos. So he also used the dining room table for his computer and drawing space as well. So welcome to a little tour . . .
Here is my new humongous desk. We went to thrift stores and antique type stores and found a heavy wooden cabinet and a metal book shelf to hold this huge sturdy thick wooden door. I wanted a workspace that I was not afraid to get ink or paint on, and I could hammer or heat or WHATEVER!?! without worry of messing up the finish. Isn't this great! Walls are painted white, {not my idea}. The door is very wide so I have plenty room to stack my organizer boxes on top and still have lots of room to work.
I am really so happy - why does he wait to take the pic when I am not smiling????
Here are the original bookcase shelves from the other closet, but LOOK there is room for all my stamps, and I can see them. I have them divided into categories that my brain would look for them in. Current stamps, Girl stuff (flowers, Bellas, etc.), Boy stuff (frogs, wildlife, trees), All occasions, Seasonal, Greetings and Sayings, Letters. I can find the right stamps or browse them easily. The other bookcase, has started projects, and embellishments (have not figured quite how to organize all of that yet!).
The tool and TV table - Here is where the Cricut and Big Shot will live. Along with a little TV so we can hear favorite shows while we work on our various projects. My hubby's drafting desk with one of his ship masterpieces. There is a little square next to the drafting table for his computer, but we have not located the correct piece to put that on yet.
So this is what I have been up to for weeks except for the couple of cards I will show you next time! Have a blast this week! Get some ink on those fingers!
Lotta luv to ya!
Lori

Lori, you did a fabulous job! I'm glad you decided not to paint the walls red. This way your art work will take center stage. I expect to see lots of cards on your blog. Isn't it great to get the "stuff" out of the dining room and into your own space. Now all you have to do is close the door if it's a mess. Have lot so fun in your new space ....Lori (aka Lulu)
